Description
A beautifully simplistic one-of-a-kind George III 1804 solid Silver (.925 purity) snuff or coin box. Made in London, England. The lid is engraved with faint thick line across the lid and heraldic family crest depicting an arm in armor embowed and holding in hand a lance or spear.The stamps on the box are as follows:
Maker's mark: I.T (first initial partially erased w/ use) for (possibly) James Turner
The Lion Passant: indicates .925 purity silver
The crowned leopard for the London Assay Office
The date letter I in cartouche for 1804
The head of George III, the duty mark
Approx. size: 1 13/16" in diameter, 1 3/8" tall
