    Description

Huichol Beaded Art Jaguar Head Artist Signed Mexican Folk Art Large Panther Cat
Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico.
Beautiful, multi-colored, glass beaded and hand carved wood jaguar head.  Handmade and signed by the Mexican Huichol Indian artist, Iginio Bautista Bautista, Niuweme, in Mexico.
Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this hand carved wood jaguar sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this bright and colorful jaguar depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
    Measurements:
    Height: 4 3/4"
    Front to Back: 6"
    Side to Side:  4 7/8"
The symbols are vibrant and bright.  His red (the masculine strong color) Peyote flower eyes flank the corn symbol for health and prosperity of the people.  Two large Peyote flowers adorn his cheeks with the eagle, mother goddess of all living things, protecting the Peyote with the scorpion.  Above the Peyote flower buds that are growing around his rainbow colored ears is the prayer arrows, Urus, requesting gratitude to the Gods.  On the back, a large Peyote flower is surrounded by the messenger birds.  Birds are important to the Shaman who use eagle and hawk feathers in ritual ceremonies.
He's (or she's) awesome and brand new.  All beads are attached.
We are very fortunate and proud to honor the Huichol Indians with their talented art pieces and thankful to offer their art crafts to you.  For this reason,  we personally inspect every piece for complete bead details and first class handcrafts.
Iginio added a thread hook to the back for hanging.  For stability, we suggest installing your own hook or use as a table top sculpture.
