    Very Nice Italian Line Cruise Liner SS Andrea Doria Oil Painting by Artist Thomas Weber. The painting measures 20” by 16”, however the overall size including framing measures 22” by 18 1/2”.     Additional information supplied by an expert - title shown on the back of it is misleading. This is not the ANDREA DORIA but one of the two earlier postwar ships: either AUGUSTUS or GIULIO CESARE. Two differences clearly identify the subject of the painting. DORIA never had a white hull. And the funnel profile is bulkier and less streamlined than those of DORIA and her sister, CRISTOFORO COLOMBO. In later years, COLOMBO was painted entirely white, but DORIA sank before that change was made.
