    Description

Lot of Eleven Letters Belonging to D.R. Benson Editor for P.G. Wodehouse 1981
    Description:
CORRESPONDENCE BELONGING TO P.G. WODEHOUSE EDITOR D.R. BENSON. Croton-on-Hudson, NY: 1981. Eleven letters, plus miscellaneous clippings and ephemera. Four drafts of letters by Donald Benson, Wodehouse editor, plus seven received letters. Several of the letters concern the publication and sale of the anthology Wodehouse on Crime, edited by Benson. A letter by noted British literary agent Hilary Rubenstein to Benson reads: “I wonder if you could explain to me your justification for proposing that the proceeds from the sale of Wodehouse on Crime should be divided equally between the Wodehouse estate and yourself? We have not of course seen the book, but on the face of it it would seem hard to justify your taking so much for this collection of stories.” Overall good to very good with soiling and chipping to letters.  [4945]
