    Notes: Moore & McCormack, as it was originally known, started as a freighter line in 1913, sailing between New York and Brazil. Albert Moore and Emmet McCormack founded the company with just ,000 in capital. It later offered cargo service to Scandinavian ports and began passenger service in 1932, with destinations in South America and the Mediterranean, to name a few. Ships included S.S. Argentina and S.S. Brasil. The S.S. Meredith Victory, along with sister ships Mormacmoon and Hunter Victory, performed a rescue operation of nearly 100,000 South Korean refugees during the Korean War in 1950. The fleet was purchased by Holland America Lines in 1972.
