    Description

Up for sale is an amazingly carved and painting, most likely antique Museum De-accession, Native American Penobscot Root War and Ceremonial Club, circa probably 1910's-1930's but possibly earlier.  Recently purchased from a major auction house museum De-accession sale, it features a great patina consistent with age and use with a small hole in the center where it appears to have been mounted for display in a museum.  It is in very good condition with no major defects noted aside from the wear to the points in the full condition report above.  There are natural areas of wear, chips, and cracking in the wood as shown in the photos but it is in overall great condition for the age.  It measures approximately 28" long x 9 1/2" wide at the base.  An outstanding example for any collection or museum acquisition.  The provenance/ownership history is as follows.  It was evaluated and sold by a major auction house as part of a multi-museum collection from various museums in Western and Central Pennsylvania including some items from the City of Harrisburg, PA.   I do not know which particular museum it came from but it is one of two I purchased at the same sale.
