    ORIGINAL WWI COLLECTIBLEThe Loyal Legion of Loggers and Lumbermen (LLLL, Four L) was created by the United States Army War Department in 1917 during WWI.Four L pins were given out during WWI to lumberjacks and loggers who helped accumulate wood needed by the War Drive to build airplanes and ships, wagons, etc. due to a widespread lumber strike led by the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) throughout the Pacific Northwest during WWI. Writing on the front "LLLL” “AUTHORIZED BY THE US SECRETARY OF WAR”Writing under the pin “Whitehead & Hoag Company Newark, NJ". The pin retains its original pin and catch and is 1 3/16 inches wide
