.  The ornate Medal is complete with the original ribbon.  It was awarded for

in the
British Mercantile Marines
in WWI.  Mercantile sailors seconded to Warships or who enlisted in other branches of service such as the Army were also eligible, as were coastal seamen like light house keepers and coastal pilots.  The Medal is
named to Percival W Heather
.  The Medal is in fair condition and 103 years old.

Background:
The Medal was established by the Board of Trade.  It required at least one voyage through dangerous waters, or 6 months at sea during the War.  Coastal trades like pilots and lighthouse keepers qualified, as well.  Merchant sailors seconded to Warships could qualify for this Medal as well as those that transferred out of Mercantile Service for say the Army could still qualify for this Medal.
